Sustainable Pantone Pretty Wedding
Pastels have been huge this year in the design world. Pantone’s 2016 colors of the year are even soft and muted – Rose Quartz & Serenity. A gorgeous dusky pink and a light periwinkle blue are perfect for a romantic rendezvous of a wedding.
Let’s explore some possible eco-friendly fashion, vendor & design choices for a sweet and sustainable wedding using these two colors of the year. The wonderful thing is they work well alone as well as together.
Sustainable Pastel Pantone Wedding – Think (Rose Quartz) Pink Oh, Rose Quartz!
This color of pink flatters all skin types which makes it a wonderful color for bridesmaid’s dresses. As for flowers, you have a wide array of choices…locally grown garden roses, hydrangeas, and peonies would all make absolutely gorgeous (and green) wedding flowers. Or think outside of the box & consider a brooch bouquet, heavy on the pink pearls.
Since this is such a soft and romantic color, fill reception areas and photobooth areas with vintage, shabby chic furniture rentals like chaise lounges, sofas and vintage pillows. Vintage event rental small businesses are booming right now. You can find them all over the country. These awesome companies buy old furniture, give them tender loving care and then rent them out again for events which give these beautiful pieces a second chance to shine. FYI - Supporting local small businesses while planning your big day is a wonderful (and easy) way make your wedding eco-chic.
Here in DFW, I recommend the sustainably stylish Rent My Dust (www.rentmydust.com) & Gold Dust Vintage Rentals (www.golddustvintage.com). Both have absolutely amazing inventories. Doris at Rent My Dust carries the Priscilla seating set that would work perfectly in a Rose Quartz wedding. Megan & Rachel at Gold Dust Vintage have a Victorian pink sofa which would also look amazing in this Pantone-colored wedding.
Sustainable Pastel Wedding – Mixing the Pantone Pastels
There is absolutely nothing that says you can’t mix these two romantic colors in your sustainably sweet wedding. These two colors complement each other beautifully. Play around with the color combos. Perhaps your bridesmaids can be in Rose Quartz dresses while the groomsmen sport periwinkle shirts with Rose Quartz suspenders and bowties. Or think outside the box and go with a vintage pink wedding dress while your bridesmaids represent in Serenity blue. Add a groom in a Serenity blue suit and you’ve got yourself a winning combination, in color and spirit!
Don’t know where to go for stylish and sustainable linens, the Brilliantly Green & award-winning Creative Coverings (www.CreativeCoverings.com) are the answer for all your eco-friendly linens. Check out their Blush Dupioni & Primrose Lamour linens for this wedding theme. They are absolutely gorgeous!
Sustainable Pastel Wedding – True (Serenity) Blue
If a Serenity blue wedding is your version of eco-chic bliss, consider locally grown hydrangeas as your main wedding flower.. For special Serenity touches in your reception, look for vintage tableware in blue designs & use Ecopartytime’s DIY Tassel garland kit in blush pink, ivory & lilac or light blue https://www.ecopartytime.com/DIY-tassel-garland-kit.html for a fun accent.
For your cocktail hour, design special eco-chic Serenity-hued drinks or serve Blanc de Bleu champagne which is already blue in color with a drop or two of organic lavender or violet flavoring to give it the perfect color.
I’ve seen some great vintage cars in this color. If you can find a local owner to borrow or rent from, driving away in vintage Serenity Blue wheels would be an amazing cap on a sweet and sustainable “Pantone Pretty” wedding day.
